Why 5 stars? Sleep, or lack of sleep, is a universal topic that everybody can relate to. This novel explores sleep, dreams, society and relationships so well that I was driven to finish it well into the night. It was also down-right spooky. The premise is sound, the writing is smooth, and the editing is flawless.
Coming of age in the sixties in Southern California, I am no stranger to sleep deprivation . The author captures the locale so vividly, I felt like I was back there again. Those were my younger days ,when sleep was the enemy. Now, I chase it , considering myself lucky to get five hours. Hence, the subject of sleep now fascinates me. This book was a win-win for me in all respects. I think we'll be seeing a lot more from this talented writer.
